What can I expect my first visit?
You will be evaluated by a physical therapist. They will develop a plan of care tailored to your needs. You will typically be given exercises/stretches to perform at home the first or second visit. Physical Therapy requires a joint effort by both the physical therapist and the patient in order to accomplish a successful outcome. Patients who perform their home exercises usually get better faster.
-
What should I bring to my first appointment?
Bring any new patient paperwork you have filled out, your prescription/referral from the physician for physical therapy, insurance card for us to copy, any x-rays you may have, and a list of your current medications. You may bring a pair of workout/comfortable clothes and shoes to change into if you choose not to wear them to the appointment.
-
What should I wear to my appointment?
Wear comfortable clothes in which you can exercise, stretch, and move. If you are being treated for your knee, wear shorts or loose pants/sweats so that the physical therapist can see your knee. If you are being treated for your shoulder, wear a tank top or short sleeve shirt so that the physical therapist can see and work with your shoulder. If you are going to be exercising in our gym, please wear proper foot wear in which to exercise.
-
What will it cost to come to physical therapy?
That depends on your insurance coverage. Check with your insurance company about your physical therapy benefits.
-
How often will I need to attend physical therapy?
It is determined by your physician and physical therapist and is usually 2-3 times a week for 3-4 weeks.
-
Why don’t you accept my insurance?
We are providers for many different insurance companies to benefit our community. However, some insurance companies make it cost prohibitive for our business to contract with them. Their reimbursement rates are too low to cover our own costs.
-
Do you have a pool?
We do not have a therapy pool. Aquatic Therapy can greatly assist some patients to exercise pain free when performing exercises on land is too painful. Our clinic provides land based therapy. Once patients complete their physical therapy, they will continue their exercises at home to improve their strength and function with their daily activities.
